The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest European building in Southern Africa, centrally situated in the heart of Cape Town housing the Cape Town Carriage operation.
Our 16seater copy of a Victorian omnibus provides 3 historical tours a day that encompasses the Company Gardens and the streets of the Central Business District.
This unique method of exploring Cape Town provides a different view of some of South Africa’s premier historical and architectural locations in the comfort of our carriage lending it a safe and unforgettable ambience.
The operating times of the carriage is:
10:30 - 12:45 - 14:45
The Route:
We leave the castle entrance and proceed up Buitenkant street – into Albertus street – into Spin street. We turn into Wale street and follow up into the Company Gardens. We stop there for 10 to 15 minutes so that the passengers may explore the gardens.
Leaving the gardens we head back into Wale street and turn into Green Market Square and then make our way back to the castle.
The trip lasts for approximately 1 hour 10 minutes.
The carriage can also be used for birthday parties and school trips using this exact route.
